Health & Safety

At Compass the health and safety of our staff and the wider community in which they work are of paramount importance.

That’s why Health & Safety procedures form one of the most important foundations of our construction methodology.  Sites that are effectively planned and managed are win-win for us because it’s proven that safer sites are also more productive and profitable.

Compass regularly conducts onsite safety reviews and operates an approved contractor list.  Our safety advisor, Iain Henderson is Vice Chairman for both Inverness District of IOSH and Highlands & Islands Health and Safety Forums.  That means we can be confident that we are always abreast of the latest legislation, HSE initiatives and good working practices that are developing across the industry.  Iain’s network of contacts and standing within the industry also provides us with wider access to professional health and safety advice.

We keep our health and safety knowledge at the forefront of our project planning and implementation through continuing professional development including:

  • Attendance at the Highland and Islands Construction Safety forums
  • Information issued via the Chartered Institute of Building of which the director is affiliated
  • Information via industry press and publications
  • Structured training
  • Close monitoring changes and developments made by the Health & Safety Executive
