As a forward thinking, indigenous, employee owned entity we identify strongly with the culture, heritage and needs that are embedded in each of the communities across the geographical area in which we operate. Since our inception we have made it a priority to establish a sound track record in delivery for, and support of, numerous community companies and third sector organisations. Indeed, this has, over time, become one of our key core competencies. Our friendly disposition, professional approach and demonstrable reputation is favoured by many volunteer/trustee led bodies seeking to engage with a like-minded build partner to chart their way through what can be a difficult, time consuming and at times daunting process.
First and foremost, Compass Building see the need, as opposed to the commercial opportunity, that such entities aspire to satisfy. Value driven entities that are seeking to deliver tangible social and environmental impact, filling gaps in local provision, improving wellbeing, promoting community cohesion and delivering tailored services through volunteering, advocacy and re-invested funds.

Education
As proponents of continuing professional development and lifelong learning we recognise the importance of creating the best environment, support and encouragement for individuals to realise their full potential – the foundations of which are set in place during our primary and secondary years’ schooling before specialising in our chosen field during formative further education.
We are therefore always pleased to have the opportunity to undertake modernisation, refurbishment and new build works for education establishments. In so doing, we deliver comfortable modern surroundings that meet and support the specified needs of pupils, teachers, support staff and local authority.
We are pleased to service the needs of both public and private education sectors with the majority of our work being sourced from Highland, Moray and on occasion Perthshire. Recently completed examples include Dingwall Primary School Nursery Alterations, Cradlehall Primary School Internal Improvements, Replacement of Windows and Doors at Coulhill Primary School, Kitchen Replacement Works at Beauly Primary School, Refurbishment of South Lodge Primary School, New Kitchen and Dining Room at Grantown Primary School and Roof Replacement at Grantown Grammar School.
Leisure and Lifestyle
This is the broadest, most diverse sector of our service offering which touches many aspects of daily life and personal choice, ranging through sports and leisure facilities, to delivering the specific tailored requirements of our extensive high net worth client base.
Produce and Hospitality
In an area famed for its natural resources, produce and tourism we are always pleased to recognise and support complementary businesses that are based within and promote economic development within our area.
A large volume of expenditure in recent times has flowed through the whisky and hotel accommodation niches.
Affordable Housing
Compass Building are a leading provider of affordable housing throughout the length and breadth of the Highlands and Islands, servicing all major Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) that operate locally. In addition, Compass Building have also delivered social housing for several independent community companies who have sought to bolster existing stock with sustainable, efficient homes for allocation amongst economically active persons within their local area.

Private Housing
Consistent with our Highland centric roots and recognising the needs of the local communities in which we operate, we have developed a private housing model that purposefully and unashamedly sets us apart from the generic, volume driven housebuilders that focus solely on the major conurbations.
This departure from the norm sees us deliver high quality, competitively priced homes, for purchase, into both the mainstream and the more rural areas of the Highlands. We commonly support Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and community companies with the provision of a private offering sitting alongside other rental/ownership models to provide a range of tenures for local communities.
We are particularly proud of being the first house builder in a generation to bring volume private house building to Wester Ross, Lochalsh and Skye.
Commercial
The Highlands of Scotland are home to a rich and diverse spread of professional specialisms and industrial activity. Where called upon, Compass Building, seek to support the vast majority of these disciplines through the provision of expertly delivered construction services that enable individual businesses to operate in purpose-built facilities, in a tailored environment that is efficient and projects the desired image of their corporate identity.
