Following on from the purchase of their ancestral home, the Board of Compass Building were able to enact their plan of modernising all areas of the existing building.
The works that were required were extensive with many parts of the building not having had significant monies expended since the early 90’s and the oldest part of the building, whilst retaining many original features, fell a long way short of modern-day building standards.
Key outcomes that the business sought to deliver included:-
- Fabric improvements to improve thermal efficiency, reduce energy costs and also improve the building and organisation’s carbon footprint.
- Incorporation of renewable technologies to further enhance our environmental credentials and act as an exemplar demonstrator project for likeminded clients.
- Incorporation of double glazed, thermally broken, windows throughout.
- Wholesale modernisation of existing services and finishes.
- Establishment of a formalised welcoming reception area.
- Enhanced corporate identity.
- Improved digitally enabled meeting/training spaces.
- Enhanced working environment for staff including kitchen, canteen and upgraded restrooms.
- Business resilience upgrades.
- An opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship of all directly employed trades.
In order to provide business continuity and minimise disruption the work content was scheduled and undertaken in phases.
The completed project has provided for a much more conducive, well organised working environment that has found favour with our staff, clients and for that matter passers-by who have remarked positively on the improvements to the building, most notably our new reception area and boardroom.
