Expansion of Maturation Facilities for Whyte and Mackay, Invergordon, Ross-shire
Successful completion of this triple cell warehouse was achieved in late Summer 2022.
Ahead of construction commencing the enabling works involved significant groundworks and earth moving with circa 22,500m³ of material having to be moved off site. At its peak this saw the movement of 2,664 Tonne in a day with 148 x 20 Tonne lorries running continually on a circuit between the site and the tip end.
The building itself is of steel portal frame construction, founded on reinforced concrete pads and overclad with single skin profiled metal cladding. Internally a combination of masonry, concrete and metal stud fire partitioning, supported of the insitu concrete slab, completes the construction.
Operating in a live distillery environment calls for stringent safety measures to be adopted recognising not only the construction activities, but the operations of the client and the sensitivity of the product. We were delighted that through the implementation and adherence to our jointly robust procedures the project was delivered timeously whilst preserving an Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) of 0.00.
