In July 2026, our Contract Manager, Gary Tuach, successfully completed a BM TRADA training course in the Installation and Maintenance of Fire Doors.
There is a legal requirement for manufacturers of fire doors to demonstrate the ability of their products to resist the passage and spread of fire. However, if they are not properly maintained, their fire resistance capabilities can be seriously compromised. The BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Maintenance scheme has been designed to provide reassurance to specifiers, contractors and end users that the product they have chosen has been maintained correctly and that it should perform as intended.
The Q-Mark Fire Door Maintenance scheme is based on training an individual who takes responsibility for the training and work carried out by a number of operatives. The scheme is designed to ensure that fire doorsets are being maintained correctly, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions or appropriate guidelines.
Compass Building & Construction Services Ltd will shortly undergo a BM TRADA audit in due course. Upon successful completion, the company will achieve Q-Mark Certification as approved Fire Door Installers and Maintainers, with Gary Tuach serving as the company’s Appointed Person for fire door installation and maintenance.
- Raise the ongoing standard of maintenance of fire doors.
- Ensure the product’s fire resistance capabilities are maintained.
- Ensure the product’s service life is maximised through correct maintenance.
- Provide peace of mind that the maintainer is suitably qualified and that their work is continually assessed by an independent body.
- Provide specifiers with the means to demonstrate that the maintenance meets the required standard.
This important addition to our services provides clients with greater confidence that all fire door installations and maintenance works are carried out in accordance with industry standards, certification requirements, and best practice guidelines.
