Compass Welcomes Barnardo’s Access to Trades Group

Compass Decorative Logomark Section Seperator

We were pleased to welcome Barnardos works and members of their Access to Trades Group to our site located at St Valery Avenue, Inverness on Wednesday 1st July 2026. Compass have a long-standing association with Barnardos, which has been mutually rewarding, with opportunities for collaboration shared between the respective organisations. The valuable work undertaken by Barnardos sees them support young people to gain the skills they need to enter the world of work by providing advice and advocating for them. This in turn increases the individual’s confidence, resilience, and self-esteem through employment, work experience, volunteering, educational opportunities and qualifications so that they are able to thrive. The managers at Compass strongly identify with these values as these attributes are exactly what we seek to achieve through the delivery of our award-winning apprenticeship programme.

The young people visiting our Highland Council affordable housing site were able to learn first-hand from our Site Manager, Greg Christie, about the build process and teamwork of the trades responsible for the delivery of the eight new homes. They were also able to hear from former Compass Apprentice, Alfie Mitchell,  about his practical and vocational journey, the support that was provided and the opportunities and skills that he had enjoyed and developed during this time.
